This is kommod`s guiding principle.

Intelligent solutions for practical small furniture is our core competence. Our goal is to bring highest design, material and workmanship standards into a modern living atmosphere. Our products are beautiful objects for a practical everyday use. We design, develop and manufacture in Southern Germany in the depths of the Bavarian Forest. Our products are made by handicapped people working in sheltered workshops.

Good design with social responsibility

Many of our furniture is designed and developed in close cooperation with the wood workshop of the Wolfsteiner Werkstätten in Freyung in the Bavarian Forest. These workshops are a facility for people with disabilities.

So if you decide to buy a piece of furniture from us, you will be the proud owner of a product that is fair and socially responsible throughout its entire life cycle.

Ecological solid wood furniture

Our furniture is mainly made of domestic woods in oak, ash or steamed beech. The raw wood usually comes from regional sawmills or timber companies that are certified according to FSC. Furniture pieces from kommod remain natural in the surface or are treated with natural and saliva-proof oil in the sense of sustainability, which is also harmless for children.

Our pieces of furniture are shipped from Freyung in the Bavarian Forest in space-saving packaging in a climate-neutral manner in order to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint.

Round bars from the Bavarian Forest

Wooden round bars made of oak, ash or beech are the basis for many of our furniture pieces.

The traditional production of these round bars - wood wire drawing - is a craft rooted in the Bavarian Forest and until the end of the 1950s was the main occupation for many families in the region.

The up to two meter long round bars for our kommod products are produced by one of the leading companies in this field - the company Ortinger e. K. - only a few kilometers away from us. The company with almost 100 years of history produces the wooden round bars made of FSC-certified wood according to our specifications.

Climate neutral shipping with DHL

So that your parcel arrives fast and safe with you, we rely on DHL as a shipping partner. With DHL's climate-neutral shipping, all emissions caused by the transport are neutralized.

All our parcels are packed at our headquarters in Freyung and are usually on their way to you only a few days after your order.
